Police reported they were notified by a man who found a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report preliminary tests show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

City officials stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure said the incident made him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
